John Jennings, 59, passed away March 25 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, Texas. He was born September 15, 1950, in Monahans, Texas, to Robert Lee Jennings and Vaun Dean Yeilding Jennings. Founder of Opera in the Heights in Houston in 1996, Jennings also taught and served as the choir director at Conroe High School, touring and directing their performances in Europe. He also served as Minister of Music at First Presbyterian and First United Methodist Church in Conroe, Lake Jackson UMC, Jersey Village Baptist Church, and, most recently, at First United Methodist Church in Whitewright, Texas. Funeral services were held March 28 at First UMC in Whitewright. Memorial gifts may be made to the Cancer Research Foundation, the Davita Kidney Awareness Foundation, or the John Jennings Memorial Fund through the First UMC in Whitewright.
