DIED E. Lynn Harris, noted gay African-American author, died July 23 in Los Angeles. An autopsy determining the cause of death was pending as OutSmart went to press. He was 54. Harris published 11 novels, 10 of which were on The New York Times best-seller list. There are over 4 million copies of his books in print, according to his publisher, Doubleday. Some of his more famous titles include Just As I Am, And This Too Shall Pass, Abide With Me, and his 2004 memoir, What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.
