Nominees for grand marshals who will lead Houston’s 2009 GLBT Pride Parade are currently being voted upon by the local GLBT community.
Female grand marshal nominees are Fiona Dawson, Cristina Martinez, Julia Oliver, and Carol Wyatt. Nominees for male grand marshal are Kris Banks, James Knapp, Keith Nappier, John Nechman, Mark Nichols, Mark Timmers, and Jeff Wallace. Nominees for honorary grand marshal are Linda and Mike Bratsen, Ann Robison, and Sandy Stacy. The Greater Houston GLBT Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast Archive and Museum of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender History, and Houston Area Bears are organizations also competing for the grand marshal honor.
In-person voting takes place March 1 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church; March 4 at 7 p.m. at Meteor; March 7 at 10 a.m. at AssistHers’ Softball Tournament; March 11 at 10 p.m. at Guava Lamp; and online. The winners’ announcement event takes place March 27.
