The Stonewall Democrats of Houston work to educate voters and elected officials about GLBT issues and offer opportunities to volunteer in political campaigns. An Uncommon Legacy Foundation is a nonprofit lesbian foundation dedicated to enhancing the visibility, strength and vitality of the lesbian community. What Women Do is a popular series on lesbian sexuality and controversial issues in the lesbian community. Among recent "spicy" topics have been "Own Your Desire," "The Whole Shebang," and "First Comes Lust." Helping Cross Dressers Anonymous (HCDA) is a twelve-step support group for transgendered people dedicated to helping those who are having difficulty accepting themselves or for those involved with a transgendered individual who is having trouble adjusting. Camp Hope A project of AIDS Foundation Houston provides a week-long camp experience for children living with HIV/AIDS. Camp enables children who are HIV+ to meet children just like them. Camp teaches them how to adhere to their medication protocols and allows them to share themselves without the constraints society places on them.
