Warrior of Love
I do not take the time to write letters to the
editor; however, in this case I had to.
The article in [a recent] issue of OutSmart, "Warrior
of Love" [August], is, so far, the best example
of what "being gay" is about. It is
not only informative; it is inspiring. A great
big standing ovation to both Mr. Harvey [subject
Andrew Harvey] and Mr. Davidson [article author
Alan Davidson]. They took the time to put down
in black and white what the American Indians,
the shamans of Mexico, the Taoists, and countless
other civilizations throughout millennia have
known: being gay is much more than "…poppers
and parties…." It is a special link
with the divine, encompassing growth, healing,
life, and even death. All that is life.
We, no matter what "modern culture"
says, were put here to help the masses make the
most wonderful as well as the most horrific transitions
of civilization possible. The Egyptians, the Greeks,
the Romans all knew this-being homosexual should
be respected as well as be honored.
It is my heartfelt desire to see, in my lifetime,
more gay people, whether they be Catholic, Pagan,
Hindu, Muslim, etc., come forth and live by example
the love that the Divine has given us, shedding
light onto what is considered evil.
"The worst atrocities of this world are committed
by man," and we are "the healers,"
"the medicine men," "the wise ones."
Articles like "Warrior of Love" bring
what is hidden out. Thank you.

Corrections
In the September issue, we mistakenly switched
the identifications in the photograph of the Dominic
Walsh Dance Theater performers ("8 Who Create").
In the photo, Lucas Priolo is the dancer on top.
Walsh is on the bottom.
Osaka ("DiningOut," September) is located
at 515 Westheimer. The telephone number is 713/553-9098.
