WHERE WERE THE CANDIDATES?

Where are all the Democrats? I watched the 25th-anniversary Pride Parade in amazement that only one Houston candidate for mayor showed up and participated.

Sylvester Turner was the only candidate who actually rode in the parade. Is he our local version of Howard Dean?

Are Democrats afraid to show their true colors? Our community deserves better than that. In fact, we must make sure that we get better than that.

Yes, we lost the governor’s race last year and the domestic benefits-related Proposition 2 the year before that; but certainly our candidates aren’t running scared from what and who they are. Or are they?

GIVE HER MORE DARYL MOORE

I’m an irregular reader in many respects (ask my friends, my irregularities are multi-layered and variously realmed). I read your publication online only to see what Daryl Moore is up to now—how well his synapses are firing and if he’s been on a rant in front of the late news or just in a private trance (alleging that someone is starting a fight with him in his own head)…. I did want to write in to say that I particularly liked his piece on the terror alert system [LeftOut, May]….

Thank you very much for a super, super, super article regarding the adventure club [LookOut, July]. Your write-up was the first time the club/me made print, and I am elated about it. This being my first trip, I am a little nervous and hope it all turns out well. I hope I didn’t forget anything important! Thank you very much again.

Just wanted you to know that we have received many compliments on the OutSmart article [“True Colors,” June] and just wanted to thank you again for a job well done. David [Lewis] sure is good at his photography. Tell him that we just tell everyone it was in the eye of the photographer that captured that!
