Only a few more weeks remain to cheer on and vote for fave contestants in the Space City Idol competition. Inspired by that little program on Fox and launched in August, the weekly show presented by the Imperial Court of Houston–Space City Empire features local talents performing on Thursday nights at Michael’s Outpost. Online balloting and tips earned—proceeds benefit AssistHers and Camp Hope—determine the winners and the booted-off. The final Idol will receive a cash prize and will perform at the court’s October 4 coronation ball. At press time, comic Tiffany Penn and singer Brad Olson remained in the hunt. —Tim Brookover
