GOOD WOOD |
Jo Alcade and Leslie Ravey create supple furnishings
from wood. These two artisans, who live in Willis,
Montgomery County, have produced handcrafted objects
together since 1993. “We believe our furniture
creations are functional art pieces,” Alcade
says.
This elegant cabinet and mirror, incorporating
lacewood and ebony, is part of Craft Houston 2002,
a juried exhibition that marks the first anniversary
of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
The show, which also includes objects made by
other artisans from across Texas, opens on September
13 and will remain at the museum through November
3 before traveling to additional cities. Alcade
and Ravey’s work—their firm is AR
