Niche magazine, the leading publication in the
craft retail industry, has named Hanson Galleries
number three nationally in the “Top 100
Retailers of American Craft” list. Hanson
is the only gallery in Texas on the list. “The
criteria are treating the artists with respect,
paying bills on time, advertising and promoting
American craft,” says Hanson owner Donna
Milstein.
On September 21, Hanson marks 25 years in business
with a 10 a.m.–6 p.m. reception at its Uptown

Carol White has opened Greenberry’s Coffee
& Tea Company at 2311 West Alabama (713/522-7005)
in the Upper Kirby District. Open seven days a
week, Greenberry’s serves freshly brewed
coffee, tea, and specialty beverages as well as
fresh scones and other bakery goods. The store
also sells a variety of packaged coffees and teas,
coffee cups, and serving pieces. Gift baskets
are available. For its grand opening in August,
Greenberry’s donated 20 percent of merchandise
sales to the Kid Care food program for children.
