PROM AND PROPER
On June 4, Colleen Herndon (r) and Yvan Ramires
will attend the prom with the dates of their
choice. Herndon will take her girlfriend, Layla
Alvandi, and Ramires will go with his boyfriend,
Nick Nicolas. For the eleventh year, the H.A.T.C.H.
Alternative Prom will welcome all GLBT and questioning
youth between 13 and 20 as well as adults looking
for a better big-dance experience than they may
have endured in high school. The 7 p.m.-midnight
event at the Magnolia Ballroom is free to youth,
$25 at the door for adults.

DEAR OLD DADS
On Father’s Day, June 20, we particularly
celebrate two-dad households at this moment of
controversy over same-gender marriage and gay/lesbian
families. Eight-year-old Stacy Robinson (c) will
enjoy the day with her dads Chuck Robinson (r)
and Andy Mock. Along with fathering an active
mostly-A student, Robinson—who also has
an 18-year-old son—works in the insurance
business, and Mock is a sales rep for a ribbon
company. The whole family belongs to Houston
Gay & Lesbian Parents, which will embark
on a five-day Caribbean cruise from Galveston
on June 14.

DRESS UNIFORMS
Pattrick Schaad (l) and Gerald Ennis will doll
up and perform on June 19 as part of the annual
Jocks in Dresses benefit show presented by the
Montrose Softball League. Dubbed “Drag
as Big As Texas,” the event at Rich’s
Houston promises lots of burly guys in frocks—and
some cross-dressing gals this year too. The renowned
Atlanta diva Bubba D. Licious—a drag queen
with her own bobble-head figurine—will
host the party. Proceeds will support the league
and the Houston GLBT Community Center.
