Broken Hearts Fan Club

Mr. Berlanti, what a great movie! ["The Director Just Happens to Be Gay," interview with Greg Berlanti, director of The Broken Hearts Club, by Blase DiStefano, March OutSmart.] How about making one that good for women? If you’ve been able to sit through Everything’s Relative, you’ll know what I mean. Thanks for sharing a nice, believable story.

Broken Hearts No More

I want to thank Daniel Garces for his article "Gay Dating 101" [February OutSmart]. Only I wish I had read this years ago! Like many gay men I rushed into the first relationship I found without regard to the long term. And as you can guess, it was a very big disaster. I know now that what I was really looking for in that first relationship was a sense of belonging, just like Mr. Garces mentions in his article. I hope all the newly out gays and lesbians get a copy of this article, tape it to their refrigerators and live by its words every day. Please keep up the good work, Mr. Garces.

We Love Dalton! We Love Dalton!

Thank you for the insightful article on Houston photographer Dalton DeHart ["Dalton’s Social Year," by Ann Walton Sieber, January OutSmart]. I have been so fortunate to count Dalton as a treasured friend and colleague for many years, and though this remarkable man indeed wears many hats well, this is the first time I have seen his extraordinary talent as a photographer recognized so nicely.

I am pleased to be an avid reader of OutSmart magazine. My partner and I look forward to every issue for timely and interesting local highlights. I appreciate the article on Mr. Dalton DeHart and his tremendous contributions to the community and the preservation of our history. It was a well-deserved piece that was a joy to read. He has a fantastic talent and the sweetest way of making us all look good! Keep up all the wonderful work and we all will continue to be Out and Smart!

Fag Hags Need Love Too

What about us? We the totally adoring supporters of the gay community need a little love and support too. And that term "Fag Hag," who ever came up with that anyway? Love reading your mag, and would love to see an article on f.h.’s in the Houston area. Love my gay friends.
