Houston Buyers Club (HBC), a vitamin and nutritional
supplement discount club for people with life-threatening
illnesses, received a $5,000 grant from Rotheudt Dizinger
Foundation underwriting a Spanish version of HBCs
publication How to Manage Side Effects. The booklet
is a clinical guide (referenced for medical staff) that
teaches people living with HIV how to manage the harsh
side effects associated with the disease. Houston Buyers
Club is open to the public and any purchase of their
low cost vitamins and body-building nutritional supplements
helps support the HBCs programs by providing nutritional
products to people with HIV. For more information, call

Dr. Maria Minicucci announces the relocation of The
Center for Creativity, Knowledge and Change from Toronto,
Ontario to Houston. Dr. Minicucci, the director and
founder of this organization will be offering a range
of services focusing on accessing creativity, utilizing
knowledge innovatively, and successfully creating changepersonally
and professionally. Dr. Minicucci has developed alternative
and innovative methods through 20 years experience of
working with couples, groups, and organizations in conflict.
She also brings expertise to the nonprofit sector in
the areas of: organizational reviews, board development,

Grants up to $500 will be awarded to Houston area womens
organizations to carry out projects developed by workshop
participants at the 1999 Mayors Summit on WomenWomen
United: Celebrating the Past, Building the Future. Applicants
will be awarded through May 31. Reports of funded projects
will be presented at the 2000 Women United conference,

Chase Bank contributes to downtown development with
a 3,800 square feet mural project. Houston artist Suzanne
Sellers is creating the mural for the 41 foot by 94
feet outside wall of the Houston Club building at the
corner of Milam and Capital. Her work, commissioned
by Chase Bank of Texas, will tell the story of Houstons
growth. Visual elements, all of which will be representative
of the citys architectural history and diversity,
will be separated by a image of crisscrossing steel
girders. The mural will loom over what is now an outdoor
parking lot, but will soon be a playground for the children
of Chase employees, adjacent to the companys new
back-up child care facility.
Karen Derr and Associates Realty presents Contemporary
Art in Victorian Settings, a Spring art show and
home tour in Houstons historic Heights, featuring
local artists Carrie Markello, John Palmer, and Robert
Derr. Their works will be on view at Karen Derr and
Associates main office located at 1034 Heights Blvd.,
and at two newly constructed Victorian-style homes in
the area. The show and tour will take place on May 11
from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A portion of proceeds from art
sales on this evening will go to benefit the local charity
Kid-Care, Inc.
