• Cristina E. Martinez has launched the first edition of the Gay & Lesbian Rainbow Pages, a new businesses-and-services directory. The four-color, 180-page book—available at no charge at various community locations, including the Houston GLBT Community Center—includes discount coupons from local businesses and a listing for nonprofit organizations. Martinez, Rainbow Pages publisher and CEO, also plans to launch editions in Austin and Dallas. Martinez was previously associate publisher for the Gay & Lesbian Yellow Pages. In January, she hired Sam Bible, former Gay & Lesbian Yellow Pages staff member, to serve as associate publisher of the Rainbow Pages. The next edition of Rainbow Pages will exceed 250 pages, Martinez asserts. “The response we have received is unbelievable,” she says. “It is amazing that 52 percent of our second edition is already sold and our directory has been out for one month.” The website for Rainbow Pages is www.rainbowpages.net. The phone number is 281/997-9778.
