Maranatha Fellowship Metropolitan Community Church has a new worship location. Maranatha will be renting space from Central Congregational Church located at 1311 Holman across from the Houston Community College downtown campus. Rev. Janet L. Parker, pastor, says that "sharing space with Central Congregational opens up so many possibilities for us. An evening service will give gays and lesbians who are not out an opportunity to worship with us without leaving their home church." Parker, who has been pastor for eight years, is pleased with the new facility as it allows more space for worship and Bible study, as well as a nursery. Kirk Baxter, with Designage, has been selected by the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County (CACHH) to provide original artwork at two locations for the new downtown Wayfinding Project. The Wayfinding Project was commissioned for the City of Houston by the Houston Downtown Management District (HDMD). The Wayfinding project is comprised of several components that will create a unified signage system to clearly identify services and facilities downtown and direct tourist/visitors to them.
