The Value of Art to Healing and Social Connectedness

Thursday, December 3, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Hosted by the Houston Center for Photography, “The Value of Art to Healing and Social Connectedness,” will be an evening of art and dialogue to showcase the organization’s current exhibit, “Somewhere in the Balance.” On display until Jan. 10, 2016, this exhibit features photographs from fours artists who are depicting their current state of mind in their own constructed environments. The artwork serves as a catalyst for this panel discussion about the value that art brings to the healing process of mental illness. The panel discussion will feature:
• Juliana Forero, Ph.D., (moderator) Houston Center for Photography, director of education
• Jamie Robertson, Houston Center for Photography, outreach coordinator
• Jon Allen, Ph.D., The Menninger Clinic, senior psychologist
• Kula Moore, The Menninger Clinic, art therapist
