Scandinavian Creation Theology claims that a theological interpretation of the shared conditions of humanity is to be considered a prerequisite for any interpretation of the Christian faith in the present post-secular situation. The movement of Scandinavian Creation Theology was shaped by its three founding figures: the Danish philosopher K.E Løgstrup, and the systematic theologians Regin Prenter (Danish), and Gustaf Wingren (Swedish). In their appeal to Martin Luther, all three of them were deeply inspired by the Danish theologian N.F.S. Grundtvig (1783-1872), seeing him as a creative mediator between Martin Luther and contemporary Christianity. Michael Schelde will link Scandinavian Creation Theology to an ethics of nature – nowadays actualized with respect to the climate crisis – that is a corrective to the belief of exponential GNP growth and its background in an understanding of nature as being there for the sake of humankind only.
