Salon des Refusés Art Show
Friday, July 22, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - Saturday, July 23, 2016 @ 10:00 pm
Salon des Refusés (exhibition of rejects) art show is back in business and will be held at the legendary Hardy and Nance Studios this summer.
Emily Sloan, curator-on-occasion for Gallery 1724, curated the original Salon des Refusés in Houston, which is based on reject show dating back to 1863 as a result of a government-funded art show that couldn’t accommodate thousands of artists in France. Sloan staged Houston’s Salon des Refusés at several venues over the years and passed the salon baton to Hardy and Nance Studios in 2016. This year’s show will feature special guest curator Noah Edmondson from Houston’s ArtCar Museum. He will be joining Gallery Director, Claire Richards and artist Stäcy Smith to help put this premiere event together. They are eager to embrace art rejects from The Lawndale Big Show, which is expected to draw nearly 300 artists.
Salon des Refusés will be held at Hardy and Nance Studios (902 Hardy Street) on Friday, July 22 from 6-10pm and Saturday, July 23 from 5pm – 9pm. The show is free to the public. The venue will provide free parking, food, beverages and music for attendees.
