Lizzie

Friday, October 27, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - Sunday, November 12, 2017 @ 7:30 pm

“Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, gave her father forty-one.” The true story of the antiquated children’s song is the premise of EaDo Playhouse’s production of LIZZIE, which runs October 27 to November 12.
Based on the trial and eye witness accounts of one of America’s most infamous murderesses, the hard-rocking musical recounts the story of how Lizzie Borden’s father and stepmother met their demise by the hatchet of a cold blooded killer. Although presumed guilty by the small town of Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden was exonerated of all charges. The case remains one of our country’s most chilling unsolved mysteries.
Chocked full of rage, sex, betrayal, and bloody axe murders, LIZZIE is the perfect production for the Halloween season. The unbelievable cast will blow you away with epic vocals set to a screaming rock score inherent of Blondie, Heart and Hole. Written by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt, LIZZIE will plunge an axe deep into history and rip open the story you thought you knew!
EaDo Playhouse’s in-your-face production of LIZZIE blends the concepts of musical theatre and rock concerts, creating a hybrid that simply must be experienced! The production is directed and designed by Colton Berry with musical direction by Jane Volke. Leading the all female cast is Raven Troup as Lizzie Borden with Julia Noble as Alice Walker, Victoria Riley as Emma Borden and Brennan Ashley as Bridget.
EaDo Playhouse maintains a deliberately intimate venue, to connect Houston theatre-goers to art in a fearless, face-to-face manner. Each moment spent in the Playhouse immerses Houston audiences in a full artistic experience and binds spectators to their humanity, allowing art to unite our community.
LIZZIE runs October 27 to November 12, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 5pm. Tickets are available at EaDoPlayhouse.com or by calling the box office at 832.210.5200. Ample street parking surrounding 2619 McKinney Street is completely free.
