Houston Heart Walk

Saturday, November 5, 2016

Free

The American Heart Association (AHA) designed the Heart Walk to promote physical activity and healthy-living, and celebrate life. This year, slated for Saturday, Nov. 5, the 5K noncompetitive walk will welcome 40,000 walkers to rally behind the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death, heart disease and stroke. The route will wind though the beautiful Hermann Park and end at the South Extension Lot for a post event walk celebration.

The walk route will begin in the medical center by winding through the beautiful Hermann Park, with the start line at William C. Harvin Blvd. Participants will then walk down to Braeswood Blvd., over to Holcombe Blvd. and loop back around to end on Harvin Blvd. off of the South Extension Lot where the post event walk celebration will take place.

The American Heart Association’s fundraising goal for the 2016 Houston Heart Walk is $3.2 million, which supports research, education, and various programs to fight heart disease and stroke. Second only to the federal government, AHA is a key funder for cardiovascular and stroke research, contributing more than $12 million in current funding to the Texas Medical Center.

To join a Heart Walk near you, visit www.heart.org/hgcevents or call 832-918-4030. There is no cost to register but donations are always appreciated. Participants are encouraged to walk as part of a corporate team or create a team with family and friends.
