Cultured Cocktails benefitting Changing States of Matter

Please join us for drinks and conversation at Bar Boheme on Thursday, January 18th! As part of Fresh Arts’ Cultured Cocktails series, 10% of all drink sales during the 5-8 PM happy hour will support the upcoming exhibition “Changing States of Matter” at BOX 13 ArtSpace.
“Changing States of Matter” is an exhibition featuring work by Hillaree Hamblin and Grace Zuniga, curated by Christopher Beer and Kelly Johnson. Proceeds from the evening will support exhibition materials and catalog printing.

“Changing States of Matter” features new and collaborative sculpture and installation work by Houston-based artists Hillaree Hamblin and Grace Zuñiga, who explore the embodiment of memory, narrative, and intention through the methodic manipulation of materials.
Hamblin and Zuñiga interweave artificial substances like plastics, foam, and resin with raw materials like wood, metals, and thread, distilling poetic qualities from within. Animating these materials through ritualized processes of dipping, spraying, stretching, and molding, the artists carefully guide selected matter into new states of being.
