Craft Social on Third Thursdays: It’s a Wrap!

Thursday, November 16, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for Craft Social, a night of making and exploring contemporary craft over conversation and refreshments.

This month, we’ll investigate the art of wrapping paper, just in time for the holiday season! Take inspiration from the works of art in the galleries, and learn how to carve your own stamp from linoleum, using traditional relief-printing techniques (one of the oldest forms of printing). Use your stamps or trade with friends to print your own wrapping paper. Explore furoshiki, a traditional Japanese wrapping technique, with Houston artist Mari Omori. Discover the history and traditions behind this beautiful tradition, and try your hand at wrapping with cloth.

Get started on your holiday shopping with special offers in the Asher Gallery. For this Craft Social only, our store will offer a 10% discount for nonmembers and a 20% discount for members on items purchased throughout the night. Gift-wrapping service will also be offered for any items purchased, using your newly printed paper or paper printed in Asher (while supplies last).
