Canned Acoustica presents some of the best musical acts in town in an unplugged concert on Discovery Green’s Grace Event Lawn as part of the XFINITY Entertainment Series. This much-loved Houston series returns to challenge bands to rearrange and reimagine songs using acoustic instruments only, resulting in unique, intimate and soulful performances.
Rap, metal, indie, rock, soul — each concert includes a mix of genres by local and regional talent. Canned Acoustica was named best concert series by the Houston Press
Like all Discovery Green events, this free event is made possible by contributions from park users, foundations and sponsors.
The Sept. 10 concert features:
Los Skarnales — a blend of ska, cumbia and reggae with a twist of punk for over 20 years.
Gio Chamba — Gio Chamba, the music duo from Houston Texas, has a movement of explosive, Electropical energy, channeled through a unique blend of multicultural influences spanning from Electronic Cumbia to Hip-Hop and Nu Boogaloo.
Us. — current drummer of Wild Moccasins is venturing out to form his own sound that combines elements of the many genres with which he has surrounded himself in the past.
Genesis Blu — a native Houstonian who exemplifies the heart and soul from the Golden Era of hip hop.
Romina von Mohr — captivating singer-songwriter with an alternative rock feel.
Guests are encouraged to bring a “can-tribution” to be donated to the Houston Food Bank. T-shirts and/or posters may be available for sale. Lawn games included.
