Learn more about the exhibition “Everything Turns Away Quite Leisurely”. On Thursday, November 2 from 6:30-8 p.m., Houston-based artist Gabriel Martinez will speak in the galleries about the ideas behind his work.
About the artist:
Gabriel Martinez (b. 1973 Alamogordo, New Mexico) digs into the relationship between art, public space and collective memory in order to uncover obliterated social histories. Wandering through the narrow shoulders of car-centric cities, Martinez operates as a gleaner in a wasteland, rummaging through glass, bricks, trash, and signage.
On view at Blaffer Art Museum through January 27, “Everything Turns Away Quite Leisurely” is his first solo museum exhibition.
