Co-presented by Aurora Picture Show and Houston Cinema Arts Festival. Renowned filmmaker Abigail Child will be in attendance to present her new film “Acts and Intermission” (2017), an hour-long experimental documentary connecting the prescient speeches and personal diaries of anarchist political activist Emma Goldman (1869–1940) with an exploration of the resurgence of protest in the 21st century. A hybrid of various-era archival material and contemporary footage, the time-travelling Acts and Intermission brings to light Goldman’s impassioned freedom fighting as it exposes continuing conflicts between labor and property, and between revolutionary purity and personal freedom. Admission is free and first come, first served at the door. Doors open 20 minutes before showtime.
