Houston Pride Band to Hold ‘Picture It!’ Concert at MATCH

HPB (Houston Pride Band) under Artistic Director Michael Roberts and Assistant Director Deborah Hirsch, will begin its 2016 performances on Saturday, March 5th at 7 p.m., with a concert celebrating the cinematic medium that will entertain both ears and eyes! Highlighting the concert will be the premiere of a new work by Benjamin J. Brooks commissioned by HPB called “The Champion” (a boxing comedy) which will include film excerpts from the Charlie Chaplin silent film of the same name.Pieces performed will also include music by John Williams, themes from science fiction movies and feature a soloist from the band.

In keeping with the bringing in the “new” with the New Year, the Band is thrilled that it will be performing for the first time at MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston) – a venue specifically designed for community artistic performances. The new venue will more easily allow multi-media to be employed to enhance some future performances and provide the audience with a richer sensory entertainment experience. A reception will follow the concert where the audience and band members can socialize and enjoy the new MATCH venue still being discovered by many members of the Houston community.

More information about the band, membership and all of its performances is available at: http://www.houstonprideband.org/
