Hubbard Financial Services Moves to New Location

After 22 years, Hubbard Financial Services—the bookkeeping and tax firm led by Houston’s First Lady, Kathy Hubbard—left its familiar single-story brick structure at the Montrose/Westheimer crossroads and relocated a mile down the boulevard to Suite A210 of the Chelsea Market Building at 4611 Montrose. Other than the address, all other contact information will remain the same. Hubbard’s previous mid-century building, vacated on September 18, was recently acquired by Aladdin Mediterranean Cuisine. The building is also known as the site of Leadership Houston’s “This Is Houston” tile mural. New owner Ali Nahhas has no current plans to have the public art relocated.

Realtors Jeremy Fain and Bryan Beene Named ‘Rising Stars’

On September 24, Jeremy Fain of Greenwood King Properties and Bryan Beene of John Daugherty Realtors received awards of excellence as a part of the NextGen Realtor Group’s sixth annual 20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate Awards. This award is given to 20 HAR members 40 years of age or younger who have demonstrated greatness in the areas of sales, leadership, and community involvement.

Therapist Tony Carroll Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

In late August, Houston therapist Tony Carroll was awarded the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Texas chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. This award is presented each year to a social worker who has demonstrated repeated outstanding achievements, made contributions of lasting impact, demonstrated outstanding creativity, and received recognition beyond the social-work profession. A trailblazing psychotherapist, Carroll has provided culturally sensitive, compassionate care for LGBT individuals since the 1970s. He has worked extensively with AIDS Foundation Houston, the Houston GLBT Political Caucus, the Houston chapter of Log Cabin Republicans, the Houston Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the Association for Family and Community Integrity, and the Montrose Counseling Center. Carroll has also been voted as Best Therapist in OutSmart’s Gayest & Greatest Readers’ Choice Awards for almost a decade.

Attorney Ashley J. Scott Joins Katine & Nechman Law Firm

Law firm Katine & Nechman, LLP, welcomes attorney Ashley J. Scott as the newest member of its team. Scott has a particular practice focus on family and criminal law. She works extensively on matters involving LGBT couples and families, including pre-nuptial agreements, adoptions, protective orders, suits affecting the parent-child relationship, and divorce. She graduated in 2010 from South Texas College of Law in Houston.

Grace S. Yung, CFP, Honored as Five Star Wealth Manager

Grace S. Yung from Midtown Financial Group, LLC, was recently recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager, a distinction awarded to less than 7 percent of wealth managers in the Houston metropolitan area. The Montrose Center Welcomes Kent Loftin as New Chief Development Officer

Kent Loftin joins the Montrose Center as chief development officer, effective October 1. He previously held the same position at Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston. Loftin succeeds Michelle Hildreth, who is moving to California. He has a degree from the University of St. Thomas and is on the advisory board of Indrani’s Light Foundation–Global Solutions to Gender Violence. Loftin is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and an alumnus of the Leadership Houston Graduate Class XXVII.
