Life’s a Beach at South Beach. Sundays just got a whole lot sunnier at SoBe—just in time for the summer is Beach Party Sundays. After the Miami Beach resort-style patio was added in January, there were hundreds of community requests to have the patio open on Sundays. South Beach is giving people exactly what they want with regular Sunday celebrations—21+ only from 4 to 10 p.m. with no cover and $1 well drinks all day. The new patio has four custom-made cabanas and a full-service bar. There were also requests for fresh new sounds, so the fresh new DJ House of Mendoza, who hails all the way from NYC, will be spinning house-style music.
Annual Open House at the Houston Gym. On Wednesday, March 19, the Houston Gym hosted its annual open house. The staff is dedicated to giving members the necessary tools needed for a great exercise program with state-of-the-art equipment. Unlike the bigger gyms, it’s more of a neighborhood gym that has earned a reputation in the community as simply a great place to work out. The experienced fitness counselors are there to make sure members are cared for, and actively provide assistance and encouragement. It’s a relaxed place to be, as well as affordable. Membership comes with three introductory personal training sessions and a quarterly body-composition evaluation.
Archway Gallery Is One of the Best. Culture Trip listed Archway Gallery as one of the 10 best contemporary art galleries in Houston. The site says that the gallery “makes sure that there is always a wide variety of high-quality works on show across a range of media and styles, including sculpture, pottery, and mixed-media painting.” Members of the gallery were also praised for being fully committed to promoting its art throughout the community, and for “sharing their ideals on aesthetics and purposes.” Since opening for business on April 1, 1976, Archway has been a top destination for contemporary art. It is currently run by 30 member artists.
