The Panza Monologues
Virginia Grise and Irma Mayorga

When I first picked up this book I was expecting another dry University of Texas Press academic read. Wrong! What I got was an excellent story of the collaborative process in an activist environment, the script for a great play, an entirely new understanding of and appreciation for San Antonio, and a DIY manual if I’m ever crazy enough to want to participate in this community project. This book is the best example of using art for community building that I’ve ever read. Okay, so you run from those boring activists? Read this book for a whole new perspective on how the personal is political. The University of Texas Press (utpress.utexas.edu). —Angel Curtis
