The Stonewall Law Association of Greater Houston (SLAGH) has kicked off a campaign to fund its Emerging Leader Award, to be presented at its annual meeting in April. Created in 2012 to recognize the contributions of young LGBT leaders, this award provides financial assistance to LGBT law school graduates. Recipients are chosen based on an interview process that begins this spring. SLAGH first presented the award to Ashlee Dunham in 2013, and also recognized Christian Rosas-Grillet and Lindsay Dionne last year.

SLAGH has accepted a $7,000 donation from Chevron in conjunction with the company’s Law Firm Diversity Awards and in recognition of the Supreme Court rulings on marriage equality.

SLAGH is a voluntary association of LGBT attorneys, judges, paralegals, law students, and allies that promotes sensitivity to LGBT and HIV legal issues, builds alliances with other minority bar associations and legal organizations, and enhances the professional expertise of lawyers who serve or are members of the LGBT community.

SLAGH hosts regular CLE and social events throughout the year. For more information, visit the SLAGH website at slaghlaw.org or e-mail [email protected].
