Fine, surprising work, this new artist is full of surprises. She starts out light and poppy, then busts into some down and nasty. Discordant in all the right places, it’s disconcertingly appealing when this fresh-sounding soprano veers into tribal “parental advisory” territory. But effective. “Getaway,” the chosen single, and “Naked” are the top picks here, with “Shadows” providing a satisfying, simple, closing palate-cleanser.
