Holy Accusations.
Methodist minister Rev. Amy Delong was put on trial in June 2011 for breaking the clergy covenant by being a self-avowed, practicing homosexual and for performing a same-sex union ceremony, both of which are forbidden by the church’s Book of Discipline. She was found not guilty of the former charge, on a technicality, but was found guilty of the latter. Rev. Delong discusses her ordeal at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, preaching Sunday morning at both services. Feb. 11–12. The “theatrically inspired” whimsical art of Randall Jobe and the steel and found-object sculpture of Jonatan Lopez are featured in a Valentine-themed exhibit.
