96 Hours

Author: Georgia Beers

When my editor handed me this book, I thought “WTF? A lesbian romance novel set against the terrorist attacks of 9/11!” However, as soon as I saw that the author is Georgia Beers and that this book is published by Bywater, I knew I wasn’t about to suffer death by bad writing and boredom. Okay, I’m not a big fan of the traditional lesbian romance novels (think Naiad), but Bywater has reinvented this genre so that it is worth reading. Imagine my surprise when I simply could not put this book down. Imagine my horror when I found this book brought me to tears. I’m not going to review this as a better-than-average romance novel; I’m going to call it what it really is—a tour de force of storytelling. Great writing, believable characters you care about, and an impeccable sense of place combine to make this a must-read book.
