Cincinnati Elects 1st Openly Gay Councilmember

Cincinnati, Ohio, voters for the first time have elected an openly gay candidate to city council.

Thirty-one-year-old Chris Seelbach is one of four newcomers who unseated council incumbents in Tuesday’s election. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Democrat worked in 2004 to help repeal a city charter provision that banned laws protecting gay people from discrimination.
