Missed Connections: Love, Lost & Found

Sophie Blackall

The advent of Internet-dating sites is making love-at-first-sight an almost unheard-of occurrence. “Missed connections” sites have also sprung up, filled with tales of longing and remembrance for what never was,  so people can mourn missed opportunity. Artist Sophie Blackall has taken posts from those sites and gifted the world with a series of paintings that evoke nostalgia, smiles, and simple awe. While not a gay book per se, this book covers the entire range of human experience, including us enchanted folk. Reading it made me wistful, and a couple of the pieces made me cry. This beautiful book is a must-have for anyone with regrets about what was, what never was, and what may never be. Don’t miss it. Workman Publishing (workman.com). —Review: Angel Curtis
