Honoring a Legend. Arden Eversmeyer has dedicated her life to empowering lesbians, especially senior lesbians. Perhaps best known for her book and website, the Old Lesbians Organizing for Change Herstory Project, chronicling the first-person stories of aging lesbians, she also founded Lesbians Over Age Fifty (LOAF), the social support group for senior lesbians now celebrating over 23 years of activity, and has served as a mayoral appointee to the City of Houston’s Agency on Aging. So far, her friends and admirers have contributed more than 30 percent of the $5,000 pledge required to designate one of Montrose Counseling Center’s meeting rooms recognizing her many achievements, which are being celebrated at a dedication ceremony and reception, Aug. 11, 6 p.m., at Montrose Counseling Center, 401 Branard St. To RSVP, call Meleah Jones at 713/800-0872. What Makes Houston Houston?
