AIDS Foundation Houston Garners Star Power for 5th Annual Dining Out for Life® Pam Grier and Ted Allen join Houston restaurants and patrons in an effort to fight HIV/AIDS

On Thursday, April 28, 2011, Houston’s food and drink aficionados will be Dining Out For Life® at many of Houston’s best restaurants for the annual fundraiser benefiting AIDS Foundation Houston (AFH). Actress and advocate Pam Grier and Ted Allen host of TV’s “Chopped” return as national spokespersons and are joined by Subaru of America, Inc as proud Host Sponsor.

Nearly 70 restaurants in Downtown, The Galleria, Montrose, Upper Kirby, Rice Village and Washington Corridor will donate a portion of their proceeds on this day to AIDS Foundation Houston in an on-going effort to fight HIV/AIDS. There is no cure for HIV/AIDS. HIV infections in Houston and around the world continue to increase at alarming rates. In Houston, there is one new HIV infection every seven hours and 36% of new infections occur in young people, ages 15-24. Women, young people and populations of color bear the unwanted burden of being at elevated risk of infection. Over 20,000 Houstonians are living with HIV/AIDS.
