Juliet Stipeche Wins GLBT Caucus Endorsement

In HISD District VIII Race For immediate release October 8, 2010

Juliet Stipeche has won the endorsement of the GLBT Political Caucus for election as Trustee for District VIII on the Houston Independent School Board.

“The GLBT community has so much at stake in our schools, said Kris Banks, President, Houston GLBT Political Caucus.  “GLBT students deserve protection from bullying at schools. GLBT teachers and school administrators deserve safeguards so they can continue their calling. And GLBT parents deserve good neighborhood schools to send their children to.

“With so much at stake, we are proud to endorse Juliet Kathy Stipeche for District VIII on the HISD Board of Trustees” said Banks. “We are confident in Juliet’s ability to tackle the issues that matter to us and to make a difference in our schools.”

Juliet wants to bring her passion for education to the HISD School Board and to Houston’s school children.  Growing up in Houston’s East End, the daughter of immigrant parents, Juliet learned the value of a good education.

Her father (IBEW Local 716) was a diesel mechanic and electric technician, her mother a stay at home mom, and both instilled in their daughters the idea that by working hard and getting a good education they could achieve anything.

Juliet did just that. She graduated valedictorian from the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. She then went on to graduate magna cum laude from Rice University and earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

Now, as a successful attorney still living in the East End, Juliet wants to ensure the next generation of young Houstonians has the same opportunity for success as she did.

Juliet still resides in the East End.  She and her husband run a law firm, Nagorny and Stipeche.
